Oedipus

After realizing that he has killed his true father and married his mother, Oedipus puts out his eyes and becomes a begger.

For an interesting version of Oedipus in 8 minutes, performed by vegetables, see the following link.

Olive bought the fabric on sale

I'm busy getting 2 paintings ready for Visarts at Cranbrook. This is one. I've been busy doing too many other things. Must paint more.

Found this neat quote and liked it because I love to walk. "Angels whisper when we walk." (Raymond Inmon)

Summer Grazing

I love watching the reservation horses up near the Akisqunuk band land. They have so many pinto, appaloosa, roan and solid colors. They are very suspicious, only allowing me to take a few pictures before they move off out of my sight. I always hate parking along the highway to take my photos (I am phobic about traffic--too many family members killed in pedestrian/vehicle accidents). But the horses are too hard to resist. I hope to do a series about them.
I'm not satisfied with this painting yet.

Setting Her Boundaries

I like the idea of experimenting with texture and text. I have had trouble in the past setting boundaries, trying to be a people pleaser so that people would like me. I finally figured out that about half the people will like me and the other half won't no matter what I do (outside of going berserk and decimating part of the population). So, now I try to please myself and care less what people think. Sometimes I just need to circle the wagons and keep everyone a little apart.

Stay as Sweet as You Are

"Stay as sweet as you are" was one of the comments that often appeared in yearbooks and autograph albums when I was a teen.
Why is it that some paintings seem to just pour off your brush and others are a fight. This one was a fight and I think it may not be done yet.

Trusty Rusty

Another rusty old truck, this one found in the place I was raised, West Liberty Illinois.
