I want to make watercolors like this!

This is one of Annelein's most recent watercolors. I love her colors and design. I have a looong way to go to make watercolors like this but I'd like to someday. Check her website at: http://abwatercolors.blogspot.com/

No painting for me today, however. I'm trying to recover from a stupid migraine. Gravity makes it too hard to move. My head still feels like someone held a metal washtub over it and beat on it with a baseball bat. The ringing has stopped but there is still a since of vibration in the air. Don't feel too sorry for me. I am always elated when I start to feel better.

Creativity Journey -- Myrna Wacknov

Wow, check out "creativity journey" at http://myrnawacknov.blogspot.com/ !!

Myrna is wildly creative and energetic! She made this sketch from the TV to mark the day. I find her work very inspirational.

Rodeo Saturday Night

I took a photograph of this "cowgirl" at the Cranbrook rodeo. I though she looked pretty snappy in her pink hat, white boots and floral dress. She may not have been conventionally pretty, or young or "stylish" but she was enjoying herself and her companion was definetly enjoying her.

White Buffalo

On our 2006 Arizona trip, we visited a buffalo farm outside of Flagstaff. They are raising a few white buffaloes, an animal that is highly revered by the plains indians. The fence surrounding the enclosure is an artwork in itself due to all the little tokens tied to it.

Playing with portraits - Haley

I don't know why, maybe I just miss them...I wanted to do funky portraits of my daughters. I like this snapshot of Haley. It makes me think of Earhart and Lindbergh..there is a "look of eagles" quality about it. She got to greet the New Year in a helicopter!

What kind of horse are you?

I'm an Andalusian, COOL!

The Sketchbook project

I found this little project in one of the art magazines. They send you a tiny little sketchbook (3 1/2 by 5 1/2), you fill it up, send it back and it goes into a show. They are due Feb. 15th.
If you are interested it is:

Urban Cowgirl

I only managed to attend one rodeo last year and did not get to take nearly enough photos. This chicka's tattoos and sunglasses were very intriguing.

Deer Crossing

This is my third entry for the abstract show. I like playing with textures and layers of paint. Photographing the gold leaf is challenging however. It shows up a lot shinier in the photo than in real life. The brown patches are more interesting than the photo shows because they are instant rust.

Hard Winter

This is my second abstract. The weather and terrain here can be unforgiving. In Sparwood, which is the next valley over from where I live, 11 snowmobilers were caught in an avanlanche last week. Three survived. Mother nature is not to be taken lightly.

February is the Cruelest Month

Relax, I know it's not February yet, but that's the name of this painting. I have an abstract show coming up in Kimberley. I'm rather happy (at the moment) with this one. Abstract always lures me with the idea that it would be easy but it is not! I've been wanting to do some abstracts so this show gives me an excellent reason to pursue them.
