Just received a request from my younger daughter for prints of my sugar skulls.

I like skulls and skeletons and found out that I have a number of skull themed pieces of clothing that I like to wear in the fall. Here are my new birthday socks and my little runners.

Skull scarf

I bought this wonderful at the gift shop of a cave I visited in Arizona.

Simple enough to tie it around the waist to make a skirt (a bit bulky though)

I like to tie two corner together on either end to make a shrug.

And oh yeah, If I move into a house and weird crap starts happening and some disembodied voice tells me to get out....watch for a big old Paula size hole though the wall.

Halloween collages

I made a few Halloween collages. I had intended to make one for each day of October. Ah well, nice idea.

Watched "the Woman in Black" last night. I had to watch about a third of it through my fingers. I made a point of never watching scary movies when I lived alone!

You knew it was coming

After painting all those skulls, I was all practiced up for our own costumes for Halloween night. Bruce is hoping that that hair spray washes out.

The day turned out clear and fairly balmy until just when the treaters started to make their rounds and we had a brief rain/snow squall.

I thought these were pretty good costumes for just using what we had in the house.

We had about 80 trick or treaters. Lots of great costumes and the kids are so polite. We are very fortunate.

Dressed for the day

We were travelling in Arizona, and had just existed a cave tour when I found this beautiful scarf in a dio de los muertos display. I don't think it was actually for sale but when I pressed the salesgirl about it, she sold it to me. YAY! I posted the outfit to visible monday at notdeadyetstyle blog. (I tried to make a link but this post will not let me!!)

Bruce and I have some decorating to do. The candy is all ready to hand out. I will be working on an altar of remembrance for the dead (I'm late as usual). At this hour, it is cold, dark, wet and raining. I hope it clears up for tonight's trick or treaters.

Last day of workshop, phew....I'm ready for a break and to get ready for Halloween.

I had an email telling me that my gallery had sold senor and senora hueso and did I have any more. Exultant, I painted hammer and tong over the weekend to create a new couple. Sadly, I then realized they meant they had sold the prints. Oh well, The new couple can grace my walls for Halloween. I rather like his engaging grin.

Off to a workshop with Jean Pedersen. Hope I learn something wonderful!

Halloween Fun

We had made 60 goodie bags and had to scrounge to give something for 80 trick or treaters! The kids here are so good, they make awesome costumes despite the cold weather and their parkas and are always polite. We drove to see the fireworks (2 minutes there, 2 minutes back...that's why I love living in small towns). Go forth and make your Day of the Dead altar.

I wanted to paint a goth little painting for Halloween and this is what I came up with. Does anyone still read Poe?

I am going to hand out stuff to trick or treaters and then watch the full season of "Sister Wives". What could be scarier than that?

Storage, stuff and books. This is where I experiment with all the cool techniques I find in the Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine.

Good old Mr. Thrifty has been with me a long time. He has intrigued countless children and greets them at the door on Halloween.

My studio is located next to my wood burning furnace. Very cozy in the winter.

Mabel models different costumes, keeps me company and occasionally scares me silly when I forget about her standing in the corner.

My large "wreck" room is a handy place to hang my work.
