From the Workshop

I thought I would post a couple of paintings from the workshop.

These were fairly quick studies but I am liking the brushwork.

Red Deer Summer Series

Fresh back from a week at Red Deer Summer Series, a week long painting class with Justin Ogilvie (a very fine teacher). Big thanks go out to the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance for their grant that enabled me to attend this outstanding level of instruction.

If you haven't been and you are anywhere near, Red Deer college offers several weeks of instruction through out the summer. You can stay at the residences on the campus (very reasonable). It's art camp for adults. Check this year's offerings out at:  http://rdc.ab.ca/continuing-education/summer-rdc/series-summer-arts-school

Red Deer Crew

Elaine, Karen, our superior model Roe, and me. Roe strove to give us great, demanding, athletic poses. I have done a little modelling in my time and can appreciate how hard he worked for us.

This was our class! The guy in the middle was our facilitator, Ross Bradley who did a great job of keeping us on track. There was no shillyshallying, we worked hard.

Our fourth classmate (Rena, I hope I have the name right) was from Prince George.

Red Deer Life Drawings

Alabaster and old bastard sketch

A couple of friends and I just spent the week at Red Deer Summer Series, a week working with models (no instruction). We worked from 9 am to 9 pm a couple of days. We had a good facilitator and wonderful models. If you would like to see some of the sketches (35 mins. was the maximum time we had for a pose) click on the link and then click on slideshow. If this doesn't work for you let me know. These are NUDE life drawings, be warned.
