Mounting a painting on a panel

I took an acrylic sketch I had done on a gessoed piece of watercolour paper and trimmed it to fit...

I gessoed a wood panel for a substrate then painted a border around it ina grey that was similar to the painting background...

I slathered the back of the painting and the front of the panel with matte medium, place the painting on the panel and carefully used a breyer and my fingers to push out as much air as possible. I then covered the painting with a sheet of freezer paper (wax side against the painting), laid it face down and stacked books on top of it overnight. I was rather terrified that the freezer paper would stick but it didn't, yay.

I'm rather pleased with the outcome.

Out of the closet

I am using some second hand frames to frame up some older pastels that have been moldering in my files for a long time.

I should learn how to photograph framed pictures (the glass is always a problem),

Ready for Kindergarden

This is the "Jump Rope" dress from Oliver and S patterns. They have the clearest instructions. You can buy and download the patterns at home.

And this is the "Hide and Seek" tunic. I was thrilled to find the "Dick and Jane" fabric at the thrift store.

Scrap Buster

I used the Liesl and Co. Pattern "Breezy Blouse" to make a light summer shell. I first sewed enough of some of my favorite scrap material together to have enough fabric to fit the front pattern piece.

The shoulders were size 12 graded out to size 16 at the waist and hips. I dropped the bust darts 1 inch. I went back after assembling the sides and made a mark a 1/2 inch from where the mark is to show where to sew the side panel to the back panel and drew a line (green) to flow into the seam line from it. I was afraid to alter the pattern thinking that if I baisted it in my blouse, I could take it back out if it didn't work.

But I think it made the fit better (for me).

This pattern will be really easy now that I have made a couple of muslins and made it fit for me.
