Cravens cemetery -- Burnt Prairie

My brother, cousin and I found the old Cravens cemetary near Burnt Prairie. It is in a very isolated quiet spot on a hill overlooking the fields. It was buried in vines and weeds, dark and subdued.

Young Brookens Cravens, my great-great granfather's stone. It had toppled over. The inscription read: "This monument honors a soldier who fought to save the Union".

Stolid Jane, stands beside him.

I've known this cemetery since I was 12...1972. I used to got there literally all of the time and clean back the honeysuckle and set the stones back up. My grandparents live nearby...Floyd and Irene Pollard.

Very nice to see someone had cleaned it up and made it known for posterity. I only hope that vandals don't get to it now that there is signage. My grandparents live nearby...Floyd and Irene Pollard.
