Skull and Crossbones

I decided to try McCalls pattern 6503. I though it looked super easy. Eh, not as much. There was a fair amount of cursing involved. If anyone can explain the sewing of the neck facing, I would appreciate it. However, when I saw this fabric on sale at Fabricland, I nearly skipped. I love the idea of the skull and crossbones and the demure little dress. I think I will make a belt covered in the fabric rather than this black one. I will enjoy wearing it through out October though.

Drop by and wish me Happy Birthday! Today's the day.
Secret birthday wish: a pair of Fluevogs! If anyone knows where I can find a pair for a reasonable (read cheap!) price, let me know. I am still trolling Ebay.

And go check out Visible Monday at Not Dead Yet Style:  http://notdeadyetstyle.blogspot.ca/2012/10/visible-monday-68-minor-color-blocking.html

Thank you so much for all your sweet comments on my blog!

This is my first visit to your blog, and it's your birthday - Congratulations!

Your dress is lovely, and I actually thought you were wearing an obi belt like Amber of Butane Anvil. That would look great too although I really like this belt.

I can totally understand your wish for Fluevog shoes! As soon as I can find the money I'm going to get me a pair!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! My husband's is next week. I'm impressed with your dress and your resolve. I seldom use patterns anymore because I'm a lazy seamstress. I will usually make super easy pieces that roughly copy things I already have. I love knits because darts aren't required and they're very forgiving if they're reasonably heavy and a little loose. I have a serger, so that makes it easy too.

The pictures you posted of the lake and mountains are beautiful. I spent a lot of time in north-western maine as a child and I loved seeing such beautiful views. I know the air must be glorious.

Happy Birthday to you!

You not only have fantastic artistic skills, you can sew too! I envy your multi-talents.

What a fun dress. I really like the tights and boots with it.

I have a pair of Fluevog sandals that I bought that are too big for me. I think I may post them on my blog and see if anyone wants them for a bargain price. Send me your shoe size and if they would fit and you would be interested, I would give you first shot at them.

At first glance, I thought the dress print had the letters "OK" rather than skull and cross bones! hee hee. It looks great on you.

I just got some really cool golden boots by them through e-bay, but I refuse to refer to them by name. I don't know something about the brand name status anti-establishment thing I have going...
