A thing about chairs

Two Chairs    16x16 acrylic    donation to charity

I have a tendency to rescue old chairs. I like their lines and I like to paint them bright colors. I had to get rid of a bunch when we moved but now I am on the hunt again. I want to be like my brother (the king of chairs) who has dozens squirreled away in his basement and garage.

Getting Started

I need to get six new paintings done by the end of the month. I am starting off with a chair series for two reasons. One, I'm hoping these will serve as a warm up to get me back up to speed. Two, they are inspired by my brother, the king of chairs. Mike has a 3 bay garage that he cannot get into for all the furniture, etc. that he has bought at auction and is awaiting his refinishing. He also has about 50 chairs that he has stored in the basement of his house in Springfield. Old chairs are similar to old cars in that they have an innate character and I prefer them rustic to shiny.
