The allure of blank canvases

I needed something to do Sunday while waiting for visitors to show up that would keep my outside and give me something to do. Voila!

Heh - I was just reading the previous post on "little financial reward"...

sigh...

Yeppers - in this dismal economy, we are seen as superfluous (phooey - even in a good economy, artwork is mostly seen as superfluous).

But we prevail. Yes it is the work and the making of the work that drives us, and you, Paula, are the essential artist - the best of us! Just look at you: making an umbrella a thing of beauty because you can, and because you must! That's the true creative mind, never resting, always inspired and inspiring others.

One year, when Creston had a garden festival we painted carry-type umbrellas and it was great.
No one wanted to pay what they were worth but it was a fun project.
In financially uncertain times people buy food but we have seen an improvement over last year and we keep believing "Next year will be better." It is the farmer's mantra and we learned it well.
