Happy May Day

First, for those of you who don't know, this is NOT one of my paintings. It is an old poster by Paul Berthon but I like the romance of it.

May day used to be a big celebration with parades, celebrations and maypole dancing. I wonder why that has faded away.

One year,  I did get up at the break of dawn to watch the Morris Dancers dance in May Day at Clover Point. It was beautiful and mysterious.

And I found this blog on Being Yourself. I have wasted  far too much of my life trying to please people. I am trying to stop.

1. You Simply Can’t Be Liked by Everybody

Stop, No matter how much you try and no matter how “nice” you are with people, you simply can’t have everybody like you for there will always be people who will continue talking about you and your “inappropriate” way of thinking, behaving, breathing, dressing, living, etc.
“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.” Winston Churchill

I do like this poster. Very romantic, and she's a redhead like me!
