Big Pink Flowers

I'm posting this outfit not necessarily because it's the greatest outfit but the photo is better (and kinder) than any I have taken recently. I like the look of the thrifted top but it is made of some horrible textured acrylic material. Stuff should feel good when you are wearing it.

This is one of my paintings I call "Ruth and Rita" based on a 1930's girls' hockey team photo.

Red Squirrel and British Columbian Squirrel Killing dogs.

Reed Squirrel   12x12        acrylic collage

Oh dear god, the willows (or the poplars or something) are leafing out and releasing a fresh lemony scent and POLLEN. My eyes are itchy and I just sneezed 20 times (mostly on my keyboard, no less). Gaaaah!

Squirrels are cute and there are many here. Unfortunately, they move into our outbuildings and make a huge mess.

Then it's a job for "squirrel killer" Fiona the Fierce. I know it's harsh but just just think of them as bushy rats.

Hot Pink

A hot pink t-shirt and a pair of high waisted me-made pants. Self photography is hard. Not only did my shoes keep sinking in the muddy ground, but I continually cut off my feet! I wanted to show off my saddle shoes! Sigh.

And, because I am a painter, I will be posting an image at the bottom of the fashion blogs.

Staying Alive and a Super MOOn alert

A great combo featured on tywkiwdbi.blogspot.ca/  combining some wonderful film clips and one of my favorite pieces of music, "Staying Alive". Duh, I knew Rita was a beautiful actress...how did I not know she was a terrific dancer?

Working it out

I love the idea of this painting. I got the figure and the colors blocked in and wasn't that happy with the results although now, looking at it in this photo, it wasn't as bad as I thought. In reality, it was very dark. So I decided it needed more color!
Please note: I am working it out...it's not finished!

gopher

This is one of the paintings currently showing at the Invermere Public Library as part of the "Wings Over the Rockies" Event. We have lots of gophers in the area. I think they should have their own show like "Meerkat Manor"....Prairie Dog Palace maybe?

New infatuation:  the HBO series "Carnivale".

Partly based on a circus during the depression. Dark and different.

Happy May Day

First, for those of you who don't know, this is NOT one of my paintings. It is an old poster by Paul Berthon but I like the romance of it.

May day used to be a big celebration with parades, celebrations and maypole dancing. I wonder why that has faded away.

One year,  I did get up at the break of dawn to watch the Morris Dancers dance in May Day at Clover Point. It was beautiful and mysterious.

And I found this blog on Being Yourself. I have wasted  far too much of my life trying to please people. I am trying to stop.

1. You Simply Can’t Be Liked by Everybody

Stop, No matter how much you try and no matter how “nice” you are with people, you simply can’t have everybody like you for there will always be people who will continue talking about you and your “inappropriate” way of thinking, behaving, breathing, dressing, living, etc.
“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.” Winston Churchill
