Grandmother

This is a spry photo of my grandma Martha, who I called grandma but was always referred to as Mom Cox. She had little glass wind chimes that tinkled in the hallways. In her memory, I have tried to put a chime in every tree in my yard and I have quite a few trees (and fortunately my neighbors aren't too close).

My grandma Laurie had some colorful nobby goblets that she would let us grandchildren use because even water tastes better from a "purty" glass.

What is your favorite thing from your grandmother's house?

Call me goofy, Paula, but I have to say that I see a lot of this particular grandma in you. She looks like she has a unique sense of style (much as you do and I love that sense), a fun sense of humor, also like you. I have nothing left of my grandparents but the memories. My dad's mom used to draw us paper dolls on cardboard and we cut them out and made our own "cutouts" of their clothes. She also packed us in the car whenever the fire department sirens went off and we followed them. My other grandma? She was just...different. But boy could she cook! And she always called my mom "Arlenie."

My grandma lived in a log house Grandpa built when they moved to the Kootenays from Saskatchewan in the30's. It had kitchen cabinets built from packing boxes and hand rails from little saplings.
There was lovely patch work quilt we had our naps under. It was made by our great grandmother and I was fascinated by how the squares made pathways corner to corner.

Love the comments. Some people, sadly, did not have grandmothers alive when they were growing up. Sometimes, you have to adopt people.
