I finally talked my packrat brother (the king of chairs) into letting me have this old illinois railroad map. Unfortunately, it has been abused and mouse chewed. Because it is in such rough shape, I don't feel too guilty mounting it on primed plywood. I am going to touch it up and add a frame. Finished shot to come.

Do mount it on plywood under lots of acrylic glaze.
When we were going through my mother's things where was an envelope which had held a CPR map (her dad was a railway man) and it had literally turned to dirt.(dust?)There was nothing left of it.
Thank you Nora for the tip. I would prefer the map in rough shape to dust!
