Lady E.

Lady E.   12x12 acrylic

Lady Elizabeth Bruce, wife of Randolph Bruce was enthusiastically welcomed to the community. In reading old newspaper articles, it appears that Lady Elizabeth was an active and valued member of the local society, hosting parties and the Red Cross Society of Canada meetings at her Wilmer home. Pynelogs was built for her. Sadly, she passed away before she could live there.
The relaxed and open feeling of the photograph as she enjoyed her garden in the lovely summer sunshine inspired this painting.

Ack, deadlines

Pynelogs is having a party of the century gala to celebrate their 100th birthday. 100 artists are submitting a painting. 100 people who buy tickets will get a painting. I have to get my painting done!

This is a lovely photograph of Lady Elizabeth Bruce, the woman Pynelogs was built for. I think her gentle spirit still lingers so I am trying to get a painting done with this photo for a reference.

Well, I have the layout done.

***Pynelogs Reception***

Airman    16x16 acrylic collage

Hey everybody, there is a reception tonight at Pynelogs for myself, Rita Rankin, Colin Bell, Pam Williamson, Bev Delyea, and Dorial Davis. It should be a great show. Go down, shmooze, have a glass of wine and know that I would love to be there with you. I had to pass because my car's transmission is being a bit wonky and I was afraid to make the trip in it until it gets fixed.

The Raven has landed

I am steadily unpacking in the new locale. We had cold, wet weather for days. It was a good time to be inside unpacking, cleaning and painting. This week we are getting sunny warm weather, YAY!
I have been working like a field hand until I am exhausted. I am also contending with the pollen that accompanies all the lovely blooming things here. Antihistamines make me feel like gravity has increased hugely. I take the non-drowsy formulas but they still slow me down.

View of the art room... I think you can begin to see what I am contending with.

At least I have internet.

I'm pretty sure there is a yard sale in the offing.
But when I take a break, the view is pretty rewarding...
 View from the front deck.

I am disappointed that I will be unable to attend my reception at Pynelogs on Wednesday. My stupid car is being difficult and I am wary of pushing it on a long trip until I can get it checked out.

Midnight at the Oasis

This is going to be a great event. We attended the murder mystery dinner a few years ago. It was terrific fun and the food was wonderful. I am feverishly working on our costumes. Hope to see you there. Call Pynelogs to get tickets.

The Dread Painter Paula

What I wore to the reception for Pynelogs annual artist show. A good time was had by most! If you weren't there, you're square.

Art Reception

After a relaxing time spent at the rustic and sulphury Lussier Hot Springs, my daughter Haley, her boyfriend Klawdee and me, all got dressed up for my art opening at Pynelogs Cultural Centre. There was a good turnout and the gallery looked fabulous loaded with everyone's art.

Getting Started-- Nurses

Pynelogs is having its 95th birthday party in the coming week or so. There is an invitation out to artists to paint their interpretation of what Pynelogs means to them. I know lots of people are painting scenes of the building. I, however, am a sucker for old nurses uniforms--love the cap and tights. Because part of Pynelogs history is as a hospital, I am working from an old photo of some of the nurses that served there.

I am starting out with laying down my stamped collage bits. I will go back in with colors and glazes to make some kind of statement. This is always a learning process! Oh, and it has to be done by friday.
