Feeling Blue...

 Blue Hen 12x12 acrylic collage
NOW

Throw caution to the wind and take a chance with color. This little painting never got much attention in it's previous life so it has been updated.

 BEFORE

I toned down and changed the color of the background as it was in too much competition with the hen. The hen was a bit too literal so now she will be a match for my willow pattern dinner plates. I still like her determined attitude. Do you think she is going to cross the road?

Madly painting for my show opening next week at Pynelogs. I missed last year so please come to the reception and have a glass of wine with me.

Playing Around

We held a life drawing session at our art group the other night. I love the practice and really like the freedom of line in quick sketches. I decided to make a painting out of this one. I printed off the sketch on paper to fit a 12x 16 canvas ( I had to divide the sketch in two and print both halves). Then, I made a quick carbon onto my canvas. I was hoping to keep that free line but I don't think I achieved it.

I used lots of collagey bits. The pose is quite twisted...it looks odd but she was sitting like this. Oh to be young and flexible!

I am impressed with what they create!

Still tinkering

This one is taking longer than I ever suspected. Just realized last night I must be ready for my show at the end of the month!! Dang. Where did the time go?

Wabi-SAbi

"Leather Buck"
16x20 acrylic collage, rust paper, rice paper, textured gesso, brown paper and fusible interfacing

"Wabi Sabi: is a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. It is a beauty of things unconventional." L. Koren

Wabi-sabi works for me!

OK, I'm having trouble naming this one. I'm not real thrilled with"leather buck". Any suggestions?
