When in doubt, take the photo

While I scorn most graffiti, sometimes, someone had actually made something pretty cool. There are way more photos I wish I had taken than not. I think there is a metaphor for life in there somewhere.

When I should be painting....

I should have been busy painting paintings today, but summer has finally come to BC and the weather is beautiful so I painted some on the heritage building and I painted our back porch table (it had been just white and not urethaned).

I am a dump diver. I think all my yard furniture has come from the dump. I hate worrying about ruining things so if they are already ruined then they are just more fun to play with. I even found most of the paint at the dump.

And I had to try making a graffiti cuff like the ones in "Canvas Remix". Now I'm off to the dump.

Mixed Bag

Inspired by Alisa Burke's book "Canvas Remix", I decided to jazz up some of my plain canvas tote bags. Spray paint, acrylic paint and black marker and lots of random graffitti go into the mix. I would like to paint my garage like this! I'm still craving the hot pink and orange....I wonder what that means?

My amazing new clodkickers!

I just got back from the art summit in Nelson, BC. Nelson is touting itself as the cultural centre of Canada and rightly so. They have created an amazing turn around in the last few years and are an inspiration to many small Kootenay towns. They have a vibrant, busy downtown and more hippies than you could find in a 70's flashback. The Kootenay school of arts is there too. So thanks to all who made the summit possible. I have much to assimilate and pass on.

I scooped up these terrific boots and found the graffiti as I roamed around the downtown apres summit.
