The difference a day makes

So I have been playing around with the Burridge color wheel and inspired by some old kids in clown outfit photos. I got to this stage and the painting was just not working for me. I kept coming back and futzing with the background but it just wouldn't work. I have found that that usually means either 

a) paint over it and start again

b) do something drastic with paint and see what happens

I changed the red to yellow and everything worked a lot better!

Remembering Sputnik

While exploring the night like colors of this abstract, a memory was triggered. When I was young, my Dad would drag me out of bed and lead me out to look at the wonders of the heavens.  We watched meteorite showers and searched for satellites. Sputnik was the first. The name alone is a wonder.... a good cat name, perhaps. I have passed star gazing to my daughters and hope they will pass it on to their children.

I can't always be ranting about stupid politics....

She wouldn't leave me alone...

I sat down to paint this image inspired by an old photograph. I am rather pleased with how it turned out. I am struggling to let go of outcomes and just paint what speaks to me. It may not be lucrative but it seems more important.  This is one of the images that haunts me until I do something about it. I like that there are images that do that but I don't know why they pester me.
