Long-stemmed Rose

Long-stemmed Rose acrylic 16x16

I know some people don't like the collage bits, but I do. I like the texture. I feel it adds something to what was a boring background plus the movement ties the painting together. It's also just sunny and happy and I like it. I lifted the horizon line a bit. I find adjusting the horizon lines often help the abstract design of paintings. I find that a sheer glaze of color can help tie a painting together so I sometimes coat a painting with a glaze of quincadrone yellow azo or a crimson shade. The mellow yellow glaze also give it an antique feel.

I struggled with photos yesterday because I couldn't fine any good light to set them in. It was to cold and icy to venture outside. I will photograph them again at a later (warmer) date.

Actually, Paula, I love your title and I hope you will use it. You know, people who love art and have a heart for it will indeed get it. I think it is perfect! And your Rose is pretty as a picture!! (Ok, sorry for the pun.) I really think this is delightful and to be honest, I am wondering why anyone would ride a bike in sand! That must be why she has those gorgeous gams!

Since I got the posting yesterday I have been looking forward to see what you do with it. I like 'Girl on Bike'. Was also trying to think of something clever with 'spokes' because the college pattern looks like the spokes in the bike that aren't there. The Spoken Word cause a picture is worth a thousand of them... ok, brain not quite up yet, must have coffee...

Hey I forgot to click the 'followup emails' box so I'm sending this cause I'm interested in what else others have to say.

I agree - keep Girl on a Bike. I also love the collage bits, especially the round one in the bike tire. I think the round in the sand and geometric in the sky ties it together.
It's just so sunny and warm, I love it!! And the old bike reminds me of my first one - boy, it was hard to ride!!
Love it, love it, love it!!!

I too love the name and if they don't get it right away (I did.) let them work a bit.
I also love the stamping. It is very effective.
