Like Swallows returning to Capistrano....

The skunks have returned to Canal Flats. Bruce saw two trundling down the back road yesterday, and three walking about this morning (must be a convention somewhere). In French a skunk is la moufette, cute n'est-ce pas? I always wanted one for a pet. Bruce and Kirra are not such fans having had a mistaken identity crisis (they thought it was Jinx) one night walk.

LOLOL I got a big giggle at the thought of Bruce and Kirra's identity crisis. How long did it take for that smell to dissipate? I must confess, I don't find it all that offensive. There are way worse odors out there. Always reminds me of either super strong coffee or of rubber tires.

They are the sure sign of spring and I'm going to hang onto that.
Not such good pets.
When we were kids we had 3 orphaned babies. One was a nice as and friendly as a kitten, one took it's cue from whoever's cue was "loudest," and one was aggressive and would run at my mom and try to whirl and spray her when she went to feed them.
Everyone knew someone who would descent them but not really when it came to the actual thing.
Someone stole the friendly one and my folks put the remaining two in a box and released them across the road from us in the woods.
Some time later a neighbour was having skunk problems and when he went out to see the skunk charged him. We always wondered if it was our boy.

Autumn Leaves, I'm glad you are able to handle the odor because when the gruesome twosome came through the door, I gagged. Truly breathtaking! Forget tomato juice. There is a handy dandy recipe on the internet involving hydrogen peroxide and baking soda which is truly effective. The most difficult part was the little rodeo getting Kirra into the bath tub. There is now a liter bottle of peroxide in the bathroom cupboard.
