An experiment with vogue pattern 8813. Despite sewing one panel on the wrong way and running out of fabric, I still rather like the fool thing. If I ever find a black and white fabric that co-ordinates, I will replace the front panel. You can't really tell from the photo but it has enormous pockets.

If you hadn't "confessed", we'd never know there were some alterations to the original plan : > This looks fab, CR, and thanks for linking it up to Visible Monday.
I'm not sure I know what's althered either - it looks cool! The big pockets are probably big enough for a picnic, right? I like the look of this being belted but open.
I like it! I can imagine it with a "clashing" mid panel as well- hope you find the right fabric for that!
How great that you made it yourself - and it looks amazing open and belted! I bet it's the big pockets giving it volume at the bottom of the fronts. Well done!
It's a great pattern, I love how you wear the vest with a black belt.
I cannot imagine it any other way as it looks great to me as is. The black and white graphic pattern is really pretty.
I love it ... really gorgeous just as is, but follow your instincts. They seem pretty sound! How good you look.
Ah, I like the black center panel - very striking. Again, I would never have thought to belt it. A great idea. I just love this dress pattern and am working on my second one now. Thanks for stopping by Project Minima. And happy moving too.
