I like blackbirds. When I lived near a pond, I used to go out in the fall and clap my hands. Huge masses of blackbirds would rise and swirl in a formidable formation. It was like conducting music.
What a stunning bird! I have never seen one of these. Since moving back to Illinois, the past few years have shown me blackbirds here with a vivid slash of red and then yellow on the wings near the neck. I'd never seen them before and I think they are gorgeous. I think they are actually called red-winged or yellow-winged blackbirds. But this one with the whole head yellow is just beautiful!
