Stuff that Cuts

"Criticism is easy, art is difficult." (Destouches)
"It isn't what they say about you, it's what they whisper." (Errol Flynn)

I know it's hard and lonely being an artist. That's why I love my blog and my artist friends.

I know the feeling you talk about in this post. Hang in there, Paula. You are doing great, creative work. Aren't blogs great for being places where people "get" you?!

Wow! That painting is fabulous! I am worried that the tanker is going to blow! My mom is much the same way as your brother. I can recite line after line of similar cutting remarks, none of which she remembers. And she still does it to this day. Sigh...Yep, sometimes it seems as if we swim in a pond either all alone or full of predators. I also like the blog world. Only the people who really want to be there are there.

Thanks, guys. I had an absolutely terrible dark day yesterday and I'm not sure where it came from. Today it's like a storm had blown through. That old painting was made when I was really going through tough times and that was exactly how I felt, like explosives waiting to ignite.
