Beach Buddies
Beach Buddies 24x24
This painting was based on an old photo. I was interested in the affection between the woman and girl. The girl's parents passed away and she was raised by her Aunt and Uncle. The girl appeared to be happy and outgoing in all the old photos, quite the apple of her adopted parents eye. I'm not sure if people understand that they are wearing old turn-of-the-century bathing outfits but I hope the affection comes across.

Ride Away
Old Paint 16x20
For the first time in years, I have hit a painter's block. I have lots of ideas, I just have no momentum. Is putting paint to canvas just a waste of time? Hopefully, this is just February blues and the courage will come back.
Just saw this on facebook. Hope it's a sign.!

Gone awry!
An experiment with vogue pattern 8813. Despite sewing one panel on the wrong way and running out of fabric, I still rather like the fool thing. If I ever find a black and white fabric that co-ordinates, I will replace the front panel. You can't really tell from the photo but it has enormous pockets.

Happy Valentine's Day
Mumkiss 16x12 acrylic collage
I spent a lot of years single so I choose to think of Valentine's Day not as a romantic/lovers holiday but a day to appreciate the people I love--partner, daughters, relatives, wonderful friends.
We had a doe that raised triplets in the back yard a couple of years ago. One ran up and snatched a quick kiss. It was a sweet if fuzzy photo. I don't think it really works as a painting. Ah well!

To jump or not to jump
I have been impressed with some people's tone on tone outfits. Here is my attempt. I don't think I am really happy with the silhouette.
So I threw a jumper over it. How come a jumper is a sleeveless form of dress in North America and a "sweater" in England?

My list of nine best romantic movies
My list of nine best romantic movies (in no particular order)
Gone with the Wind. I think the part that tweaks me the most is when Rhett returns with Bonnie after leaving Scarlet. They both have a brief moment where they hope to kindle the romance but pride makes them both do stupid things.
Far and Away. One of my all time favorites. Cruise, Kidman, a quest for land.
Chocolat. Depp, Binoche and magic and chocolate
Summertime. Hepburn at her best, Rossano Brazzi and Venice. (sigh)
Up. Omigod, this movie makes me cry (buckets!) when I see the story of Carl and Ellie.
Bull Durham. I loved Saradon in this and Costner isn't bad. Steamy in parts.
Ryan's Daughter. Some remarkable acting turns, a fantastic story (with Irish) and an incomparable cinematogrophy by David Lean.
Marnie. Young Connery is worth the look alone. Very Hitchcock and lovely Tippi Hedren. i guess it was very racy in it's day.
Crazy in Alabama. Not so much a romantic movie as just a movie I really love. It was marketed as a vehicle for Melanie Griffith but the real story revolves around Peejoe (Lucas Black) and the quest for freedom (racial and feminist).

Oh, the places I'll go!
I wasn't crazy for the look of these shoes so they were sacrificed to the creativity gods.
And became....travelling shoes!!
With a me made jumper
and a belt. Now I just need somewhere to go. And soon because I'm getting Cabin Fever really badly!!
**Because several people asked**
The shoes are dead easy to make. I scanned an old geography book, tore
up the maps and used acrylic medium to glue them to the shoes.I sealed them with a couple coats of Minwax polycrylic. I need to
find a way to make them more supple so that they don't tear or
shatter when I wear them. I may try bowling alley wax.
Wait, I know. I'll go to Visible Monday.

I love Feminist Men
I did a search on photos of feminist men. The horrible hateful anti-feminist images that came up are truly scary. Thank God there are some men who feel differently. Here is a post to check them out:
